Problem

Learning new language is really fun but it comes with many challenges. Majority of Language learning apps focus on memorizing words which is very difficult and boring. It is also difficult to find a native speaker to learn from.

Solution

Learning language should focus on acquiring the language rather than memorizing it. Methods like TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) and comprehensive input are really helpful in acquiring the language. Learning with native speaker is one of the best to learn language and also culture.

Research

SECONDARY RESEARCH

Traditional Language teaching focuses on memorizing. Ideally, for effective language learning to occur, a stimulating and rich linguistic environment is required. Thus, children need to be given many opportunities to be actively engaged and interact with others. This can be quite a challenge in the foreign language classroom, as typically children learning in this context have little exposure to the language outside of the classroom.

language acquisition methods like comprehensive input and Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling are really helpful for students.

Comprehensible input is language input that can be understood by listeners despite them not understanding all the words and structures in it. It is described as one level above that of the learners if it can only just be understood. According to Krashen's theory of language acquisition, giving learners this kind of input helps them acquire language naturally, rather than learn it consciously.

TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) is an input-based approach to teaching language that focuses on the systematic instruction of vocabulary in a highly comprehensible, personalized and contextualized manner. Its framework and philosophy are based not only on classroom-proven strategies, but more importantly, on research in second language acquisition.
